Yak Tank
Accelerating Himalayan Entrepreneurship
Living in a country with one of the world’s fastest economies, 44% of young Indians hope to become future entrepreneurs. Yet only 11% of rural businesses have access to technology services and 40% see a lack of financial support as a deterrent to scaling their businesses. Ladakh also faces an unemployment rate of 26.5% as of 2023—a significant increase from its previous unemployment rate of 9.8 in 2022. These challenges are not unfamiliar to those operating in the Himalayan landscape, where business owners are eager to make an impact on the region but lack sufficient support and opportunities.
A simulation of Shark Tank, Live to Love’s Yak Tank aims to mitigate these concerns by emulating a venture capitalist approach to scale local businesses. Local entrepreneurs pitch their ideas to a panel of investors, who award promising talent with resources for funding and networking.
Previously, Yak Tank Winners have been awarded thousands of dollars in seed funding from international companies such as Oyo Hotels, INOKS Capital and the Honnold Foundation. These ventures have since achieved financial success, boosting the local economy and fostering regional talent.
Through previous Yak Tanks, we have:
Raised $100,000 in seed investment
Created 171+ jobs
Supported 78 locally led businesses
Reached 50+ remote villages
If you’re an aspiring Himalayan entrepreneur looking to fund your idea or upscale your business, you can register for Yak Tank below. The deadline to register is 30th March, 2025.
